Dietetics of Ayurveda is the study of diet and nutrition in relation to health and disease.
Ayurveda explains that Tridoshas are the functional constituents of the physical body which, in balance, bestows us in health. However, health relatively depends on food interaction with the tridoshas. Taittiriya Upanishad describes that the whole world is a heap of food, the physical body is made out of food, sustained and nourished by food, and at the end, becomes food for other beings. Therefore, food is not only the sustenance, but also the medicine.
